The Tearsmith

In this kind of world, where there are no more tears to be wept, the Tearsmith has a business of getting/digging up crystal tears from the soil to water the only living green. The main character in the story is Nica, a little girl who becomes an orphan after the accident and, subsequently, is placed in a terrible orphanage. Somewhere their teenage years, Nica was adopted by a family with Rigel, a boy she never knew for his ability to play music. The movie tells the story of their new life, the development of their relationship, and the problems they face in a world whose compassion has died out.

Explanation of Tearsmith

The film’s visual and artistic peculiarity comes from the fusion of the 19th-century setting with today’s world. The criticism of the story generally goes along with the idea that the characters were not fully developed or that they did not experience any growth throughout the story. The plot is about Nica and Rigel, and notwithstanding the chemistry and the reasons to like each other, the development of their relationship is not at all portrayed. In addition, the movie also entails a subplot featuring one of Nica’s friends and her love for another friend, but the closure of this subplot is simply a single check in the box.

The critic was also confused as the reason the film least explained why the couple thought that their link is illegal, or why the foster home owner had deep affection for Nica and strong ties to Rigel was not.

The Tearsmith is on Netflix for those who are in the movie-going market. Netflix is making an effort to give out the kind of stuff that will resonate with a young population in love, therefore, by having such a film, they are realizing this goal. It must be confessed that the film falters in many ways, but there is no denying that it is a film that will still be able to attract those who like YA romance flicks and the visual splendor in the film.

Is it Good?

It is said that The Tearsmith is a bad movie by the majority of people. It has some visually stunning features, yet the movie lacks the key elements, such as substance for the story, character development, and the bad narrative, and the film turns out to be a tiresome experience. On one hand, the film is trying to win over Gen Z's hearts through the use of popular music and a modern look, but on the other hand, it is not creating a story that is interesting to them due to a smart or touching plot.

At the end of the day, The Tearsmith is an attractive movie with an original concept, however, the plot is simply dull and stale emotionally. In other words, this film does not suggest that it is a poorly written YA romance and thus, may have a very limited appeal to some of the audience.
