Vedaa speaks of Abhimanyu Kanwar, played by John Abraham, who was dishonourably discharged from the army for his wife’s murder and the revenge he is looking to seek for her. Vedaa, a Dalit law student, portrayed by Sharvari Wagh, is on his path and has to bear brutal harassment simply because she belongs to a low caste. Driven by nostalgia, Abhimanyu is the one to mentor Vedaa, guiding her and working to fight against injustices that she is up against. Vedaa Movie Explained

The first sequence consisting of incidents that result in Abhimanyu being dishonourably discharged from the army constitutes the film. The killing of his wife he believes was a result of caste-based violence is driving him to get revenge. The person then moves to a village where he meets Vedaa, a young Dalit woman who is a law student. Vedaa fights every step of the way, aiming to disappear, harassed and discriminated even before she begins.

Realizing both they have similar struggles, Abhimanyu takes Vedaa under his wing. For many years he teaches her self-defense and helps her learn to put up her face to all the oppressive forces in his village. The theme of the film includes casteism, honor killings, and the role of individual resistance. In order to maintain the audience's interest, the first half should be robust and fast-paced. While the first half is about imagination, the second half, more specifically the action sequences, is criticized by the formulaic character of the scenes.

Critics and audiences have generally been mixed in their reviews of Vedaa. People are praising Sharvari Wagh's performance, her ability to show off the range of emotions and carry the film’s weight emotionally. Though mostly expressionless, John Abraham fits his character well; a lack of emotion is approved.

Is Vedaa Good?

Vedaa is a film both with high points and serious shortcomings. This has a strong beginning and is told well from the beginning, with Sharvari Wagh putting in a good performance. Despite that, the action sequences, especially in the second half, are regarded as being formulaic and unrealistic. The film despite these issues manages to have a social message and attractive performances of its lead actors makes it worth a watch.

Therefore, Vedaa is an action and drama film with a touch of social issues. Its flaws are evident, especially in the second half, but it is a communication full of ideas and emotions. Vedaa is recommended for people who are interested in films with social commentary that also involve action.
