The film recounts Korean independence activist Ahn Jung-geun's (played by Hyun Bin) preparation of the assassination of Japan's Prime Minister. A gripping and intense final act stems from a wonderfully complex scheme with a bunch of trains and moving parts. Besides Ahn, the film also introduces a bunch of sincere freedom fighters with their own reasons for fighting and moral questions to think about.

With introduction of mystery element, the film is able to enrich the narrative and entertaining the audience throughout the duration of runtime. During the messy wartime sequences they are often bloodied and dirty and depicted with stark and ugly detail described as characters' journeys.

Harbin Movie Explained

It is a historical thriller that blends the action, drama and mystery. The story unfolds as the audience meets a succession of the various characters who are involved in the plot to assassinate Snow White. The film actually looks into the moral conundrums around the freedom fighters and the personal sacrifices that the ones made.

Among the film's key moments, the most conspicuous one is Ahn's decision to spare a vicious Japanese Major, Mori Tatsuo (Park Hoon).
