Back in Action

In Back in Action, Matt and Emily, two CIA operatives who appear to be experts, are prematurely retired during a high-stakes assignment. They settle into a seemingly normal life with their two children but their ordinary life is smashed when their cover is blown.

The couple finds themselves pulled back into the world of espionage, this time with their kids in tow. The key — a technological powerhouse item whose got been hidden away years ago — is their mission, to retrieve it. In between the perils they face with international terrorism, they also have to keep their children out of the enemy's clutches.

The movie starts with a flashback to Matt and Emily’s last mission in which they were sent off to retrieve “the key.” They are shot back home after a successful mission and forced into retirement. As his past fifteen years of life come crashing back to him, his cover is blown, and he and his well-being are pulled back into the espionage world. When their children are kidnapped, it becomes easy to see their plot thickens, and Matt and Emily have to use their talents to rescue them and keep a group of terrorists from using 'the key' to their own ends.

It’s a movie based on action and some comedy, and it plays with the relation of the family. And their chemistry is a highlight: It’s Foxx’s and Diaz’s job to be parents and – barely pulling it off – to be spies.
