The American Indian Tamil biographical action war film Amaran, written and directed by Rajkumar Periasamy, is scheduled for release in 2024. The film is produced by Raj Kamal Films International and Sony Pictures Films India, and stars Sivakarthikeyan as Major Mukund Varadarajan, Sai Pallavi, Rahul Bose and Bhuvan Arora. The book from which the movie 'India's most fearless - True Stories of Modern Military Heroes' is apparently derived is Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh's book series, which includes a segment on Major Mukund Varadarajan.

The story follows Major Mukund Varadarajan, an Army commissioned officer of the Rajput Regiment, who was awarded the Ashoka Chakra posthumously for his gallantry in a counterterrorism operation while on deputation to the 44 Rashtriya Rifles battalion in Jammu and Kashmir. Initially, the show “Amaran” was going to be available on Netflix November 2024. But, because of its very success, that streaming date had to be moved up to a generous early December. Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi, and Tamil dubbed versions of the movie were available for viewing on Netflix from December 5, 2024.
